About us
i-ViD was founded in 2004 when CCTV was recorded on VHS tapes. In 2005 we developed a digital video recorder which eliminated the need for VHS and made CCTV operating much easier. We sold our DVRs to Kurt Geiger and it allowed us to obtain a contract with Bangor University.
In 2012 we developed the embedded DVR which eliminated the need for a PC making the old DVR obsolete. This lead us to be contacted by North Wales Police for CCTV advice as we were one of the first in the UK to use DVRs. In 2013, due to advising North Wales Police we were contacted by Denbighshire council.
Denbighshire council wanted a CCTV camera that didn't need all of the standard equipment for CCTV. From this we made the re-deployable CCTV camera in 2013. We then sold a variety of these re-deployable cameras which had 3G and 4G capabilities. Using the re-deployable camera technology we invented a full CCTV camera system for police cars. The CCTV camera would be placed on the patrol car and plugged into the DVR allowing CCTV operators to access the camera remotely.
In 2015 CCTV advanced further to wireless. while wireless was new we decided to do wireless projects in Denbighshire which proved its capability. We believed this was a huge advancement in CCTV and could be used in all councils.
In 2018 we obtained a contract with Conwy Council replacing analogue CCTV cameras to IP CCTV cameras while installing the new wireless systems. We were also contacted by Cheshire East council for purchasing re-deployable cameras.
Similarly in 2020 we were then contacted by Wrexham council to fix their CCTV system and in 2023 we were contacted by Flintshire council where we have updated most of their CCTV system, modernising and improving their CCTV.
We now have contracts with Conwy council, Wrexham council and Flintshire council.
